This game is good. Amazing even, except for one extremely fatal flaw.

The fucking LAG!

I mean I have a damn good comp. I can play most games on the highest graphics settings without too much trouble. But even on the lowest graphics setting in this game if a zombie jumps on my hood sometimes the game will freeze up or slow down. But not the whole game, just my targeting and driving. Its like both Cocheta and Diane fall asleep similtaneously and randomly. I'll be bouncing along killing zombies and BAM! I can't steer or shoot. Or if I can steer or shoot its like its moving slowly through water, the cursor inches across the screen. And if this happens when a zombie is on my hood I'm pretty well fucked. Its annoying to not be able to get past sections of the game only because I'm unable to defend myself.

Its frustrating too because this game could be SO good if I could just play it like a normal game. But I can't. I could kinda sluff it a bit at first but now I'm roughly 1/2 of the way through the game and the amount of zombies/mutants and other difficulties that crop up now make it so that any time the game freezes is a time where a zombie is on my car so I'm pretty much dead at that point. And there isn't much I can do about it.

Come on guys. You dudes at Evil-Dog need to find a fix for this problem so that people won't find it so difficult to play your game you worked so hard on! You are so close to perfection it'd be a shame for you to never fix this.

Evil-Dog responds:

it's flash man, happens with all "heavy as fuck" games, it's a shame indeed.
We're thinking about doing a Road 1 and 2 bundle in Unity3D, port the game with HD graphics and sounds/music and 3d road and buildings, then the game would run smoooooooth.

I must know!

This is an INTENSE game that blows your mind with its speed. I had to react FAST. First two times I sucked, third time I got 300,000 and i just went up from there.

But I have to know, whats the name of the song that plays during the game? Its fast paced as hell and really catchy.

Vibe13 responds:

the in-game tune is "Distorted Goblin" from the the "Contagion" album - you can download it for free by following links from either the game's credits dialog, or the music link on this page.

The version in the game has been cut down and slightly re-pitched to better fit my sfx, so if you really want the exact same version as in the game let me know and I'll upload it - but I'd expect you to prefer to have the longer original version.

This could be better.

I definately see potential in you and your flashes. This one just needs a few more touches to put meat on its bones. Right now its a little anorexic!

Firstly, try to add more than one song. That one gets a little boring pretty fast. Or perhaps a longer one that would not distract the user from the game by being to irritating or repetitive.

Second, I suggest you put more obstacles/rewards in the game. Maybe there is walls of light that you have to go up and down to avoid? Perhaps a switch that if you hit it will turn all lights off for a time? Something that gives players pause, makes them have to strategize a little. A complex game isn't always a good one, but a game thats too simple can be bland. This one could use the spice ;)

Lastly, maybe a difficulty changer? Easy/Normal/Hard and the like. Making the game a little more difficult if you so choose would make it more challenging and more worth it to beat.

I don't know why, but I like you. Keep making flashes and I hope to see the updated version of this game, and perhaps other games/flashes too!

Your friendly review is highly appreciated!

Yeah, next to my ActionScript 3, my composing skills also need a little work... I seem to lose any inspiration after 10 seconds of music has been written.

I was afraid that I'd make things a little too complicated for a first, but I'll probably make a sequel with more obstacles. Thanks for your suggestions.

A difficulty changer... that should be within my skill of programming.

Well, thanks a ton for your useful critique and review. I'll probably make a sequel to this one some day... sadly, spare time might become rarer and rarer over time.

Not bad at all

Your art is pretty eh, but your overall game mechanics is pretty good and it serves to be pretty fun. A good start to a flash career. Get some better art or work with an artist and try to add a few more features and you could have a seriously fun game.

Catchy music btw.

thanks for the critics...
yeah either ima get an artist or take computer arts!
...since this got submitted im going to make a newer version with better art and
possible a song from the newgrounds music channel!

if you have anymore suggestions just run them by me!=)

First?

Since it was your first and...overall not bad submission I give you a decent score. This actually surprisingly entertained me for awhile. So. FTW.

Keep working on your flashes, you'll get better and maybe make this better too? Make it revolve around having to type all the words it says fast before the sinkage drowns you maybe?

Fishlicka responds:

Yeah, now that I've finally finished a project, I plan on making the next game way better. I was just hasty to submit something for the first time.

I'm a pretty simple guy.
